Caroline Evanoff has been a fully-licensed Raqs Sharqi performer in Egypt since 1998 in 5-star venues and weddings as well as appearances on television. With a strong background in ballet she moved to Egypt to study Egyptian style dance with the great master teachers such as Raqia Hassan, Aida Nour, Ibrahim Akef, Mahmoud Reda, etc. and appears in 7 volumes of Raqia Hassan’s technique DVDs (vol 4- 10). She has also performed under contract in India, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and Mediterranean cruises. She is a teacher at the annual Ahlan wa Sahlan festival in Cairo and this year at Raqs Britannia in England. Caroline regularly travels abroad to teach workshops in Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore as well as running holiday courses in Dahab (Sinai Red Sea).
Caroline is known for her pure Egyptian style choreographies because of her understanding of the language, music and feelings. Her choreographies are beautifully elegant, fun and sometimes a bit cheeky! Her ability to breakdown the challenging Egyptian Oriental technique makes her workshops a truly valuable experience. Caroline also teaches the various Egyptian and folkloric styles from Modern and Classical Egyptian, Shaabi, Baladi, Tarab, Saidi, Nubian, Alexandrian, Ghawazee, Shamadan as well as modern and traditional Khaleegy styles from the Gulf region.

OZGEN
in a 2-day SEMINAR: 12:30 – 5pm (1/2 hour break 2:30-3:00pm)
Saturday, September 15 & Sunday, September 16, 2012:
Sat: a great, fun, energetic DRUM SOLO,
Sun: *2* ROMAN CHOREOGRAPHIES
OZGEN is known and loved internationally for the quality and range of his instruction and choreography. He has performed, taught, choreographed and directed for the last 15 years. In Istanbul, he starred in “Night of the Sultans”, combining contmporary dance, ballet and Oryantal dance and taught them for several years.
He is now based in London, teaching and performing Turkish
Oryantal and Romany dance internationally.
In January, 2009, when OZGEN was a surprise guest performer in my weeklong opening concert, he had the audience screaming for more. It took this long to get him back here! Charisma, technique, drama, choreography, looks and so, so sexy!!
TAKE YOUR OWN DANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL AT THIS SEMINAR!!!
On Saturday, Ozgen will teach how to interpret the rhythms in the music and wow the audience with your moves, undulations, travelling steps and shimmies.
On Sunday he will teach deep technique and steps of Roman dance and how the movements work in that special 9/8. It’s important to know the cultural background of this dance, to understand the gestures and hand moves and their meaning and significance.

Leotard/tights, sweats or skirt & top: must show body’s outline & permit visibility of movement.
A scarf or shawl to tie around your hips.
Please make sure that any beading, coins or ornamentation on your hipscarves is securely sewn.
Due to COVID we have not been doing any in-person classes. However, Karima Nadira is currently teaching my Oriental technique in on line classes via ZOOM from my Brooklyn studio while you dance with her in the comfort & privacy of your own premises.
Basics for learning & strengthening technique: movements are broken down into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t choke on them – Morocco’s very carefully designed barre / warmup using Oriental dance’s vocabulary in an easy to understand format.
This warmup / barre is then used as the beginning of every Oriental dance class here, so that the “alphabet” of this wonderful dance becomes second nature to our students.
